Nov 2, 2019- GCS had the honor of hosting another installment of our “Bringing Out The Dead” art show during the Nov art walk. We were fortunate to have hang art from some long time friends as well as some new comers to our gallery. Every year, November art walk is the biggest and best attended art walk. It was great to see everyone that came out that night. Here are some photos we caught that day, enjoy.
GERMIZM came through for the June ’17 art walk with some of his latest works. This guy kills it every time. Come through to see his work in person, art will hang all month.
Every art show that we have the honor of hosting provides enough material for several posts. From the announcement of the show, to the set up and night of the show, and lastly, the detailed shots of these works of art. Enjoy.
Aug 1st, 2015- No frills, no gimmicks. Just a good ol’ art show for the first of the month. We would like to thank RASK, XPLODE, Ed Gutter, DARCS, GERMIZM, Susie Cue, Tyoni Aragon, Tanya Rose, VGML, Pablo Damas, Jonathan Martinez, Mary Rose and Brittney Camille Gonzalez for bringing in art and participating in this month’s art walk.
A huge shout out to AWOL ONE and XPLODE for painting live during the event. Thank you to Shadow, DJ Real and a very heart felt thank you from all of us at GCS to DJ AB, for this was his last art walk with us before his move to the state of Washington. God speed, sir.
Today we look back at the second time the Ink Bombers curated an art show in our Broadway gallery. Entitled “Comic Cons”, the art show focused on the darker side of the characters that we all grew up with. Great art show, great line up of talent. The Ink Bombers always go hard.
September 7th, 2013. This month was a collection of artists that we have always loved to show. Included in the night’s festivities was AR, Free Humanity, Jay Open, Liz Killz, Moeeglee, Pernille Damgaard, Germizm, Sick Dot One and Nick Macaulay. Joe Ded set up shop in our front windows for some live painting. Another successful artwalk! Thank you Santa Ana.
Dec. 6th, 2014. GCS clothing store and art gallery presents a little show we like to call GCS All Stars. NO theme, just a show made up of artists that are familiar to our gallery walls. Artists included in this show were Free Humanity, Nick Macaulay, DES, Jess Johnson, Jordan Yescas, Edgar Zamorano, Marcos Camacho a.k.a Nerd Bird, Andre Sandoval, Steady Jenny, GERMIZM, Dino Perez and the works of Ivan Vega a.k.a 3rdi that were still available from the NOV art show. We’re still getting used to our new space and the crowds are steadily finding us in our new place.
FEB 7th, 2015… GCS was happy to host the second edition of the “All Our Love” art show that takes place during february’s art walk. This specially selected group of artists represented some of what GCS loves and holds most dear. We thank all the artists that were involved in the show as well as the crowds that came in though out the night. Big thanks to Scarub from Living Legends for his in store performance, which we covered in a previous post. DJ’s Real and AB were on the decks all night long. DJ AB had a HUG STATION out in front of the shop for the night promoting peace in the hood. And DEITY and Kimberly Duran finished up their latest pieces steps away from our front door.
Love is in the air as GCS Clothing Store and Art Gallery gets ready for the second installment of “All Our Love” art show. And with a roster of artists like this, whats not to love. Music, refreshments and artists will be on hand for the nights festivities. Event starts at 7pm and goes until 11pm. For those that cannot make it out that night, the art will hang for the rest of the month.
In celebration of the November Art Walk and Day of the Dead, GCS presented “Bringing Out The Dead II”. An art show that brought out different aspects of life and death and the beauty that comes from both. This was the second year that this theme was explored and it was just as impactful as the previous show. The roster included some artists that are familiar to the GCS audience as well as a few new names. It was non-stop crowds all evening long as the night coincided with the “Noche De Altares” street festival two blocks over.
NOV 2nd, 2013 brought to GCS Clothing Store and Art Gallery the second installment of “Bringing Out The Dead” art show. Our version of the celebration of life and what comes at the end of it. Not your typical day of the dead art show, our hand selected artists put thier own unique twist on the themes and emotions involved with this time of the season.
The roster of artists that contributed work goes as follows: EGADS, Tyoni Aragon, Jonathan Martinez, Mike Giant, Aseph, 3rdi, Steve Tipton, Dino Bowen, Kasey Mahoney, Ducky, Ana Gonzalez, Germizm, BENONE, Alicia Rojas, Alisa King, Charley Reynoso, Bigboy, Heidi Hernandez, Kenos One, Edward Velasquez, FRED ONE, KRAY, DAMET, VGML, Jess Johnson, Nick Macaulay, Trixie’s Pinatas, and Ed Gutter…
The show opened to huge crowds being that the November Art Walk coincided with the Noche de Altares street festival taking place a few blocks away. Judging by the reactions of the crowd, “Bringing Out The Dead” art show accomplished what it set out to do, to be a memoriable part of the day’s experience. Be on the lookout for next year’s art show – we hope it’ll keep growing in impact.
